Mom Date at Philosophie

UPDATE: Management has changed since I posted this, and so the post has been updated.

Original post: I am resolved to see my friends more.

The problem is that with work, kids, and other obligations… the times when I can meet up with my friends fall at really random moments of the day. I don’t always have that block of time to actually go to a sit down dinner, and often I want more than just the fly by night cup of coffee. A place to sit down, have a little something to eat- maybe even drink- and visit.

Enter Philosophie. Just when I had visited a similar spot in Kalamazoo and asked them- hey don’t y’all want to move down South?!- comes this wine and charcuterie bar in downtown Macon.

The indoor decor is chic and clean, something I’m used to seeing in larger cities but is becoming part of the greater downtown Macon vibe.

I know that there are hold over food items here from the old Roasted cafe. So for me, Philosophie is like the grown up version of Roasted. It’s got one of the same people running the day to day operations and another handling marketing/business development- and even some of the food favorites from Roasted. (Feta dip anyone?!) That might be oversimplifying it a bit, actually. And I have noticed that there’s been more food items on their menu lately, so I need to go back in and check out the updates!

The food is amazing, with the ability to build your own charcuterie board. Or even pick out several appetizers. And desserts!

My friend and I spent longer there than we intended, but I actually liked that. It was easy to get caught up in visiting with one another, and not feel like we were being rushed out the door. It was a lovely, relaxed, upscale moment when so often I feel like I don’t get that chance as a working mom of two teens and a baby.

You’ll want to go now before they’re so busy it’s impossible to get a table. Trust me- it’s going to happen!
