Under the Sea!! – a crayon resist art project
Are you going to the beach this summer? I have a fun art project to do while at the beach on a rainy afternoon or inside cooling off from a day in the sun!
Supplies
Pencil with eraser
A variety of colored crayons
1 sheet of white construction paper/ or drawing paper
1 8-color box of watercolors
1 watercolor brush
1 container of water
1 sponge or paper towels
First begin thinking about all the different sea creatures there are. Also what plants are on the bottom of the ocean. Are there any pirate treasure chests? Is the ocean floor totally flat? If you need ideas and have a device with internet connection available, you can look on my Pinterest Animals board for a few ideas www.pinterest.com/genamcwilliams.
Next decide how much sky and how much ocean and how much ocean floor you want in your picture.
Draw a wavy line near the top of the paper for the horizon line to divide the sky from the ocean.
Draw a curved line near the bottom of the paper for the ocean floor.
Draw your sea creatures swimming in the ocean.
Draw your plant life, hidden pirate treasures, and animals like crabs and starfish on the ocean floor.
Draw a sun, clouds, and birds in the sky.
Color the sky, clouds, sun, birds, sea animals and creatures, hidden treasures, plant life, crabs, starfish with crayons. Color with solid bright colors.
Outline your sea creatures and animals with black crayon.
Paint the ocean with a light tourquoise blue by mixing blue and green together and a little more water.
I hope you have a fun, artful and creative summer! Mizz Mac
