Black Friday: If I Wasn’t Working…

Sad Molly.

I am working today. No Black Friday for me. So look- I’m curious, what are yall getting this Black Friday?

If I were out, in Macon, I’d make sure I was out and about. I’ve already got my eye on Rumor’s jeggings- I hope there are some left tomorrow! And fab’rik posted this awesome sparkly slouchy sweater… <sigh> Karats and Keepsakes and Sorella and Ginger Michelle and Rodeo Beach- eeek! It’s so not fair. And it’s a pretty day too.

I can tell you where I won’t be either today or tomorrow: any big box stores. Don’t get me wrong, there is a place for them. But with these days being some of the largest shopping days of the year it’s even MORE important to support small businesses.

In fact, have your heard of Small Business Saturday?

Main Street Macon is helping to promote this day on Facebook- you can go here to learn a little more: https://www.americanexpress.com/us/small-business/Shop-Small/ .

So, what small businesses are YOU going to support? We have a ton of them here! Valor Candles, Kiki-Jabri Jewels, Betsy Pittard Designs  , Knot + Bow Designs … even restaurants- you would be surprised how many people love the gift of food! Tic Toc Room, downtown grill, Dovetail, Harpin’s, Fountain of Juice… seriously. You can even look at the trunk shows that Macon Arts Alliance is doing (if you are in Macon). For other small independents take a look at The Blue Door and Pursona in Columbus, The Buzz Boutique in Auburn, Amanda Pearl and Diana Warner out of New York City.

I really encourage each of you to find new and unique gifts from small business owners. That’s the best Christmas gift you can give to them.

Thanks for posting this to remind people of the importance of shopping at small businesses. Even if shoppers cannot go to an actual store front…they can shop via a website or small business Facebook page! We hope all small businesses (including us) have a great weekend of sales! It is us up to each of us to keep small businesses open year after year!

Thank you for including my daughter’s business on your post! She certainly feels accomplished by being mentioned alongside some great local businesses here. Having a small business has certainly given us a whole new outlook on shopping local! Wishing you much success in your endeavors! Thank you for the role you have taken in molding KiKi into an ambitious young entreprenuer!
