Thrifting with ThredUp

I am really bad at thrifting, truly I am. I admire those who can do it and pull off these AMAZING looks.

Some of it is because I have zero patience when it comes to shopping. Don’t get me wrong- fashion is a first love of mine, and I love finding really cool looks. And while I love a sale, I can only go hunting for cool finds under certain circumstances. It’s like going hunting in an area that you KNOW is well stocked with a lot of big bucks (Jesus did I really just use deer hunting as an example) and you’re most likely going to score no matter what. I can deal with that. What I DON’T have patience for is going in somewhere and knowing there’s a decent shot I won’t find anything. Zero patience for that.

This is where ThredUP comes in. I can search their app for items in my size and in a particular style, and I can do it at my leisure either while working on something else or even during random down moments. And I’ve gotten some REAL gems from them. This jacket below was in immaculate condition (too bad I haven’t mastered the art of photoshopping out ex-boyfriends- he did not wear as well over time):

Then, there’s the following dress- which is an absolute dream. I got it for a wedding before concluding that it might be just a little too dressy for this wedding. But it was such a good price that I couldn’t pass it up! And- it clearly photographs so beautifully:

It’s also really easy to send items IN to ThredUp- they will mail you a bag and you can send your items in and make money off it it. Will you get rich? Maybe not, but I love participating in throwing away less trash and helping someone else find their treasure. I’ve done it plenty of times myself! As you can see- I’ve been doing it for a few years- and this is how it looks on the app when you want to keep track of your sellings:

And, again, you just never know when you will find a real treasure- I am so super thrilled with this dress and while it clearly photographed well in this shoot- I’m looking forward to wearing it out when it’s safe to do so again.

Love to all y’all,

Molly
