It’s Dirty and Needs to Be Washed

The dirty laundry is there, it needs to be washed, but there’s not really THAT much of it so hey- it can wait. And the kids won’t really give you the time to do it right now anyway.

It’s Dirty and Needs to Be Washed and I Still Have Plenty to Wear and So Do My Kids

More has piled up, but there’s still plenty of clean clothes in the closet, so there’s not really any urgency to do it *right now*.

No More Clothes Left- Time To Do Laundry

However now there’s maybe just a few clean outfits left, if any at all. So now you need to do a couple of loads- at least.

Clothes in Dryer But Aren’t 100% Dry/I Don’t Want to Iron, Run Dryer Again

Ughhhh…. who really likes to iron? Run dryer again.

Items that would need to be ironed are dry, take them out and hang up in laundry room. However, a few items still aren’t dry yet. So, run dryer for third time.

Clothes in dryer are dry, but clothes that were in washing machine have since soured- wash again

It’s happened to us all, wash clothes in washing machine again.

Pull Clothes Out of Dryer, Sit in Counter, Pull Clothes That Have Been Re-Washed Out of Washing Machine- Place in Dryer

Self explanatory- why would you go ahead and fold these clothes now when you don’t *have to* and you have kids fighting in the other room? Postpone until necessary.

Put Second Load on Counter (That’s Dry)

Two loads of laundry dry and on the laundry room counter, no reason in folding right now- and you can always do a quick change in the laundry room if need be.

Mountain of Clean Clothes So High That Next Person Can’t Do Their Laundry

If anyone else lives in your house, like a husband or parents or roommate- this is the stage where they get annoyed because they can’t do their laundry. You might take a few actions here- fold a few and put them up. But generally you’ll just move on to the next step:

Move Clean Clothes Downstairs, Sits on Sofa

Simple enough. For me, I just move them on to the next station.

Realize That Even More Clothes Have Piled Up That Are Dirty, Get Fed Up and Decide to Wash/Dry Seven Loads in One Day

Then this happens when you get so frustrated from clothes piling up that you decide to wash every single item no matter what the cost to your day. Also means you spend the entire day, maybe even two days, doing laundry.

Fold/Hang Clothes, Everything Is Clean and In Place

Now, every piece of clothing or linen that you own is clean and in it’s place. Congratulations!

And then, the first clothing item is dirty again, and a little part of you feels empty inside. So much so that you just can’t bear to really look at it, and next thing you know- the cycle has started again with another pile of dirty laundry to do.
