Summertime Sadness: BORED CHILDREN {dum dum dum}

Summertime is almost here! Pretty soon the boredom will set in. When it does, come here for some fun times in art!

This is an interesting subject- a watercolor of ” Me and Someone I Care About” or ” Me and My Best Friend”!

Supplies:

1 sheet of 140 lb.cold press watercolor paper from a watercolor pad or ¼ sheet of whole watercolor paper

1 pencil 1 extra fine tip black permanent marker

1 8-color box of watercolors

1 #6 or #8 camel hair round watercolor brush

1 container of water paper towels or sponge for drying the brush off between color changes

Covering for work area

Directions:

Try to think of someone you care about or you and your best friend going for a walk or playing on the playground. Are you the same size? Are you running or walking? What are your arms and legs doing? Are they bent at the knees and elbows? Are they straight? What clothes are you wearing, Shorts, pants, dresses, shoes? Do your clothes have patterns? Draw with your pencil you and your friend on the watercolor paper.

Draw a background which tells where you and your friend are. Are you in the woods, on the playground? When you are finished, draw over the pencil with the permanent marker. Then erase any pencil lines.

Now paint with watercolors. To mix skin color, mix a little brown and water. Add some orange or red as needed. Add more water to lighten. Add more paint colors and less water to darken.
