Shoe Fate: Sometimes, It’s Just Meant to Be

There are just some times that I get lucky. It’s one of the reasons that I have acquired such an expansive closet- with just as an expansive taste. I always keep my eyes open for sales, and sometimes yes I may make an impulse purchase but for the most part I will keep my eye on an item for a little while and make SURE I really want it before pulling the trigger.

That’s basically what happened to me today. You see, I’ve had my eyes on these Steve Madden shoes at Dillard’s for a while. And I have known for some time that I wanted a pair with sequins on the heel. In fact, I even went so far as to buy a cheaper pair of shoes, and then went to Michaels to buy the sequins separately. (On a side note- those shoes and sequins are still sitting on a shelf somewhere in the original box. Oops. I’ll get to them eventually.)

This weekend, I am attending the wedding of my dear friends Jerry and Tori- and I knew I needed a pair of shoes to go with my silver Tracy Reese dress that I (again- sometimes it’s just damn fate) got on sale a few years ago at Sorella. I would even go so far as to say- this was my best Sorella purchase ever and I frankly don’t know how it managed to make it to the sale… this is why I say some things are just fate!

It must have been meant to be for me to have this dress, as I am a rather common size and it’s just SO fabulous! It’s the only way I can explain someone else passing it up in order to make it to my closet. Same with these shoes. In fact, I don’t know if I will wear *this* particular pair this weekend. In fact, I think I may go with the other pair I bought today- a silver version of a Jessica Simpson shoe that I already have two pairs of… both in pink, actually.

Just like this fabulous dress, this shoe was the LAST PAIR LEFT IN MY SIZE. And I am probably the most common size- seven and a half. It was also the display shoe. Did I also mention that they are a black satin? I never buy satin shoes, unless they are black, after a mishap with a favorite pair of pink satin shoes in high school… but that is for another blog posting.

Suffice it to say, I think this pair of shoes was meant to live in my closet. Sure, I am scared of when I chip the first sequin off of them. I am sure this relationship will end in heartache, with the loss of several sequins, but until then… I will enjoy the ride and accept my shoe fate.

I’d get Puma. Puma is more of a tennis shoe and since you prablboy don’t have that many tennis shoes (given you don’t really like them) you need something that is more sporty. Puma is good at mixing function with fashion.Coach is great, but I think the purses are better than the shoes. (Puma makes a few handbags, but I’d definitely get their shoes over the bags. Same concept.) I don’t think that the quality of their shoes is that great, plus if you ever go on an outing where you’ll have to do quite a bit of walking (even just a long day at the mall) you’ll look better with Puma than Coach. I think the prices are about the same, so it’s not an issue of which one makes you look more high-end. Hope it helps!
