Georgia Roots Rock Showcase: Listen Local
What if I told you that I used to work with Daniel Nesmith of the band Back City Woods once worked with me at Enterprise Rent-a-Car? It’s true! I remember talking to him about his band and I gotta be honest, I didn’t really give it much second thought.
It’s a good lesson that you never know where people are going to end up. I’ll never forget when I actually saw Back City Woods perform live and in person and I said: Wait! That’s the guy who used to work with me! You see, I never saw them perform in those early days because I was pregnant and I didn’t go out to shows then.
Now, they are performing as a part of the Georgia Roots Rock Showcase at The Hummingbird Stage and Taproom along with Radiolucent, The Law Band, Rueben’s Bell, Sailing to Denver and The Ramblin’ Fevers. This is the FIRST such showcase to be held, and I’m excited to catch these bands this Saturday the 13th.
You can buy tickets in advance for $7 and $10 the day of the show at the Bird- again, this Saturday the 13th.
One thing I love about catching up and coming acts is you get to know the artists themselves, and they love to talk to fans after shows (generally). And I love to think I might can contribute to helping the next big thing. Even if these acts don’t become the next big act, it’s not different than shopping local with your groceries or jewelry or clothing. Perhaps we should invite a new hashtag: Listen Local! Or, rather, #ListenLocal.
Love to all y’all,
Molly
