Blue Sweater and Blue Weather: Thrifty Thursdays #4

[collapse title=”Blue Sweaters and Blue Weather: Thrifty Thursdays #4″ collapseid=”UniqueID”]Every Thursday you can expect a feature of some of the clothing, jewelry, shoes or other nick-nacks that I find in local thrift stores! I’ll also provide y’all with some thrifting tips on how to find these beauties!

Last week, Thrifty Thursday was catered to the snowstorm that passed through. However, with Sunday’s beautiful Super Bowl temperature, I was in shorts and flip-flops. I’m never really sure what the weather will be like, yet another marvelous feature of Georgia’s bipolar weather: one minute it’s raining, the other it is sunny and 70. So this week on Thrifty Thursday, I’ll just go with some items that would be good in normal “Spring shower” weather.

This so-called “vintage” rain jacket was on Goodwill’s coat rack just before Christmas time for $7.99. It’s probably from sometime during the 90’s (not sure if that adequately qualifies as vintage) and is a super efficient rain coat. The pockets on this things are fantastic.

Since L.L. Bean would be crazy to still sell these, the only ones I could find online were resale items. I found this one from someone on Etsy for $42.00.

Next, I found this blue Merona sweater (also can be called a cardigan in my opinion) in the Salvation Army store right down the road from school. I got it for about $3.00 (things are usually a little cheaper at Salvation Army). It is actually pretty rare to find a cardigan or sweater without some kind of hole or tear in it, so this was a great purchase!

The a tag on the cardigan still said Target, so I found something somewhat similar to it still sold by them for $19.99.

[dropcap_blue]THRIFTY TIP #4:[/dropcap_blue]
[clear]
[dropcap_pink]BE. DEDICATED.[/dropcap_pink]
[margin_5b]
This week’s Thrifty Tip is to be dedicated. I am not going to lie to you: sometimes you will spend hours at a thrift store and find only a few things. It is a risk because you never know what to expect. But, don’t don’t give up! If you can’t find something one week, chances are that about a fourth of the store will be something different when you go back the next time. You have to not only dedicate time, but also be willing to walk away sometimes empty handed–it makes the good finds even better. So don’t give up and be dedicated to finding those treasures!!

Thrifting is treasure hunting. So from one treasure hunter to another, keep on thrifting!
