We Always Plan Our Weddings {Even Without a Ring}

I had this conversation with my once-off-now-on-again boyfriend that girls plan their weddings from the moment they are born. My daughter is just one prime example of this. LK is all of four years old and thanks to Cinderella and even Frozen, she has talked about getting married and wearing a big ol white dress and basically just being a princess. That’s as far as her concept of getting married goes.

The fact of the matter is, us ladies are always planning our weddings- even if we aren’t engaged, even if we’re divorced or even currently married. These days you can always do it again! Even if it’s just a vow renewal or a second marriage or you just talk about what you would do differently. I call BS on any woman who says there was nothing they would either change about their wedding or even do differently if they were having a second one for whatever reason. Weddings, when done right, are a lot of fun. (Click here for what I hate about weddings.)

Pinterest doesn’t help this, either. I swear everytime I turn around I can tell which one of my friends is getting married, engaged, or just thinking about it. Hell even I have a “She Said ‘Yes'” board (note: some of that is also due to the topics I write about here thank you very much- y’all don’t be getting any ideas here) for my new Pinterest page, and then also a “Here Comes the Bride” one on my personal account. **blushes**

I can even tell you particulars of what I would want in a second wedding, just based off of how my first one went.

For one- while I’m OK with ladies wearing the full on ballgown for a second wedding, for me I wouldn’t do it. I would want to go with something short or even tea length, and perhaps lacey on the top a la Kate Middleton a.k.a. the most lovely Princess everrrrrr. Again, thank you Pinterest for this inspiration:

I love this as a short wedding dress, but I would prefer a v-neck or even sweetheart neckline.

I really love the skirt of this one, but would prefer a lighter lace for the necklace and bodice.

So yeah. I’m no where near getting married but there you are- two dresses that I just love and would totally wear. Another example? We know what rings we like:

See all the rings mixed in with other pins? Yeah. I’m not settled on a ring for my imaginary maybe in the future engagement, just so long as it’s different from my first engagement ring. Which I will say, was rather badass. 2.14 center karat emerald cut stone, .5 trillion stones on the side, more pave diamonds and antique filigree platinum band. I’m thinking an oval or pear cut with rose gold perhaps this next time around….

See?! I can’t help it! And I promise I’m not the only one.

I haven’t really made it much past dresses and a ring and knowing I would want all of my friends there (my first wedding was super small)- just dismiss all the other pins on my Pinterest board that might lead you to think otherwise…. but given that I’m nowhere near getting engaged I’d say that’s a healthy start to an imaginary wedding, wouldn’t you?

You might ask, what’s got my mind on weddings?! Well, it’s not really that my mind is solely on weddings lately, that Pinterest board is a few years in the making. But also one very dear friend of mine just got married, and another one is set to later this week. So, there’s that. Love is contagious after all. But it’s also the beauty in everything about a wedding. Many times the wedding industry is such a huge cash cow that we forget about the true meaning behind it all: declaring to the world your love for one.

So, until I am engaged or making more concrete progress towards being so…. I can at least fantasize about it, right?!

Love to all y’all,

Molly
