Fabulous Athens Boutiques You Need to See: Alta Moda

Alta Moda is the mecca of Southwest style in Athens. This is my first stop when I’m looking for a pop of bright color, a touch of pattern, or geometric chic in my outfit. I really like that you can create full outfit in the store, since they have everything from hats to coats to shoes, with prices ranging from as low as $10 to as high as $500.  Though I have not met the full staff, I can say that their sales associate Elise is incredibly friendly and helpful. She helped us find four looks to inspire your inner nomad.

Outfit 1: One of the season’s hottest trends is mixing textures. When mixing textures, you want to start out simple; in this outfit, we started with one color. It’s super easy to mix and match pieces when you pick a color and use the textures to add interest. Using all black with standout blue accessories in this look achieves a pulled together, chic look. Outfit 2: This scarf gets extra brownie points because I’m pretty sure I could double it for a blanket on a cold night. A bold printed scarf is a foolproof way to spruce up your winter wardrobe. This warm, cozy fad might be my favorite trend of this year’s winter season. Although these blanket scarves can be versatile, they can also be difficult to figure out. We tied this scarf in the same way you would tie a bandana around your neck, and then we brought the longer areas to the front. Outfit 3: This fringe cardigan and leather wrapped necklace channel Alta Moda’s Southwestern style, and the Umano pocket tank is an awesome conversation piece. If you rock an Umano pocket, Umano will empower a kid in need with a backpack full of school supplies. Kids draw the pocket art, and you can “meet” each kid on the tag. Outfit 4: This outfit captures laid back, bohemian sophistication. If you’re looking to update your boho mojo, start by adding a fabulous fringe bag and well-traveled necklaces. (Leather woven bag $220 brand-Pamela V, necklaces $70 and $44, Sweater $38, Boots $210 brand-Nicole

Overall, Alta Moda is the best place in town to find a laid-back, yet sophisticated, bohemian look. Their staff is super friendly, and well trained in helping you put together a full ensemble!
