A Guide to Men’s Fashion from a Woman’s Perspective #3- The Polo Shirt

The ubiquitous polo shirt. A symbol of preppyness. Can embody the high school prepster in pressed khackis to the college Frat boy in worn out jeans, even the hipster and the professional man. Polo shirts can be both lazy chic and super hot coolness all at once. They can be worn by both men and women with just about anything you can think of, but for the men I especially love it for it’s range.

That being said- polos can also have a bit of a bad rep. There’s nothing I hate more than a man throwing on a polo and thinking that’s all they have to do. Sure you can wear it with jeans and be sexy lazy chic, but don’t just throw on a hat and Rainbow’s with them once you graduate college. Only frat boys and high schoolers can get away with that. Past that point, you need to do something with your hair (for one), and preferably wear some loafers for your shoes- unless it’s just the blazing hot summer and if it’s really that hot why are you wearing jeans? Put on some colored shorts instead, then the flip flops and hat aren’t SO lazy.

But I really love the polo when paired with a blazer. Especially with jeans. Polo + blazer + jeans = BIG WIN. It’s so grown up especially when you add some nice shoes. Even more of a win with khakis.
