Work It Out: A Challenge
I don’t know about y’all, but working out has taken on a whole new meaning ever since having babies. I mean- if I had worked out this hard when I was in college I might have actually had those abs that I wanted. (Well- probably not actually. My stomach has ALWAYS been my problem area.)
I know the basics of eating right, and yet sometimes I just choose that I don’t want to. I have found what works for me in regards to a workout: 45 minutes to an hour or cardio, burning at least 400 or more calories per day. Weights. And then more free weights at home.
I know I’m in the best shape of my life. I can literally see my calves taking shape when I put on my heels and it makes me feel freaking fabulous. For some reason, the arm workouts I’ve been doing have helped my biceps take shape- rather than my triceps which still look like jello when I shake my arms. But my waistline waivers between something that makes me sad and something that looks like that it’s finally heading towards what I want.
Part of the problem for me is a few things. For one- I just don’t have the time to get in the gym every day. The last two weeks, it was my kids swim lessons right smack in the middle of the day. If I hadn’t been up late catching up on work I might have had the energy to get up in the morning at 6 am I might have made the gym- but I just didn’t have the energy.
It’s such a balance to have enough sleep, get work done, raise the kids AND stay fit! Arrrgggghh.
I have this conversation with other mommy friends all the time. Trust me- I’m aware I look great. I’m not saying that I don’t. But I’m also more acutely aware when I gain weight thanks to this blog. When you are a fashion writer, there are times that you have to wear the clothes that you are talking about, and then you have to be photographed in them. Which means any little bit of weight gain is quickly apparently. And for me, because I can’t seem to stay consistent here lately with my schedule, it also means my weight keeps fluctuating. Back and forth.
So I’m officially put it out there to any nutritionist friends, workout buffs and others. Feel free to make your suggestions to me! I want to blog about your suggestions to tone up, keep in shape and how to develop a nutrition routine that doesn’t include cutting out carbs. Things that can be done at home would be awesome since, well, my schedule is SO nutty. Even things that can be done on the road would be helpful.
