Vine-Ingle T-Ball, Poetry, Food, and Clay

My my my … what a title that is!

I have officially decided to go ahead and consolidate all of my blogs in to one. So this my dears will give yall some insight in to my life other than fashion.

So, what have I been up to lately? Good lord- what haven’t I been up to! My son has started his first season, of what I hope will be many more, of t-ball at Vine-Ingle. His father played there, I played softball at Freedom Park (the girls softball counterpart) and nearly everyone I know has played there. So my days have been filled with practices and ever growing patience at the habits of little boys who play ball for the first time. Such as when my son went to bat, hit the ball and then proceeded to pick it up on his way to first base. And that is just one of many moments.

I also have made it out some to local restaurants- just these past few weeks I have been to Doughboy Pizza, Dolce Vita, Bearfoot Tavern and Dovetail. I have to say, I love having Doughboy right downtown- not far from my office. Dolce is also convinient- I like to run in for a quick chai tea latte. Bearfoot… I had to stop by Friday evening for their Veggie Tacos. I love love love them! I did end up their later in the evening to drop off postcards for Fired Works (more about that later) and I have discovered it is quite the hot spot on a Friday evening.

Earlier this week I had the pleasure of going to Dovetail- and had the best shrimp and grits of my life. Generally, I actually don’t like this traditional Southern dish- but the presentation here is just simply spot on and the taste is sublime. When not partaking of wine, I prefer their Quarterhorse cocktail which is no longer on the menu but is similar to an Old Fashioned. Every Southern female has a love affair with whiskey, now whether that love affair goes sour or remains pure is up to the individual, for me I must handle my whiskey with care because too much of it and I am transformed in to something silly. Oh- and I must note that I did get the PutUps appetizer and the Sweet Tea Creme Brulee. I can never hesitate from those two items.

To switch gears now to the arts- this month is National Poetry Month. For those of you not aware, I have been writing poetry nearly my whole life. I intend to post some here in honor of said month (please do not judge). And if you are in the mood for some culture there are a couple of things I can recommend. I attended the exhibit at the Tubman Museum  “Hard Times On The Southern Chain Gang”- I am a well exposed, well educated person. But I must admit that this exhibit took me aback. In a good way- a good way in that… something so ugly was brought more to my eyes. Something that I knew was bad but maybe just didn’t really realize… I struggle for adequate words. Just go. Go. I urge you.

And for something considerably more pleasant, I made it to the Macon Arts Alliance’s show. They always have a great event but THIS one leads up to Fired Works. The company I work for handled the redesign of this website, www.firedworksmacon.com, and I am quite proud of it as this is the first project I managed. I’m not sure how many details I can divulge at this juncture but suffice it to say this will be THE event of the spring. But really go to the site and get your tickets now. The Cocktails and Clay and Preview Party events always sell out rather early so don’t miss out! I can’t wait to see all yall there…
