Trucks, Pops, and Brothers

There’s oh so much happening this weekend- I’ve said that a lot here lately, right? About Macon?

But seriously. Tomorrow, Mercer’s Womens Basketball Team plays at 1:00 pm. This is the ladies last game of the season and they are playing Samford.

Tomorrow at 2 pm we’ve got the Monster Jam truck event at the Centreplex. This is a great event for kids, well, of any age let’s be honest.

Mercer Men’s Basketball is at 4:00 pm, it’s their last home game of the season and then it’s on to the SoCon Tournament- which they haven’t played in before- as this is the Bears first year in the SoCon.

Then today two music events: one at The Big House and the other downtown at the City Auditorium.

From their press release:

The Big House will be presenting an Allman Brothers themed motorcycle on Saturday, February 28,2015 at 12:00 PM at The Big House to a big fan of the band as a surprise from some of his friends. To help with this presentation, representatives of Harley Davidson and the local Hog group will be coming to support The Big House Museum.
David “Poogie” Powers has been a big fan of the Allman Brothers for a long time. He gave his friends at the Hydroshock Custom Grafix of Thomson, Georgia the freedom to paint is Harley Davidson with one request of only listening to the Allman Brothers while painting it. He doesn’t ask for much, and his friends wanted to do something special for him, so they contacted The Big House Museum to help them with the surprise. Poogie was sent tickets to The Big House Museum and will be going on Saturday, February 28, 2015 to a welcomed surprise of being presented with this intricately painted Allman Brothers themed motorcycle.

And then there’s Macon Pops- which will be incredible. I’m sure y’all remember my interview with many of the artists (or you can just go here to refresh your memories). I can’t even tell y’all how excited I am. It’s going to be…. there just aren’t enough words for how much awesome it will be.

This same venue hosted the Tedeschi Trucks Band last night- so Macon, you can’t say there’s nothing to do in this town. Heck, even Mike Mills of R.E.M. said (at the opening dedication of the McDuffie Center for Strings) ” We had to leave this town to make something of ourselves, now people are coming here to do it.”

Love to all y’all,
