So this is the only item I have featured this Thursday. This is a Tommy Hilfiger Oxford shirt that I snagged at a Goodwill for $3.99. I love putting it with a nice pair of jeans and some cute boots and calling it a day. It’s a dressier casual that keeps me from looking like a bum after I wake up for my 8 a.m. shift.

I found this similar one on the Tommy Hilfiger website for $59.00.

[dropcap_blue]THRIFTY TIP #2:[/dropcap_blue]
[clear]
[dropcap_pink]WASH, RINSE, REPEAT[/dropcap_pink]
[margin_5b]
From what I’ve heard so far, most people avoid thrifting because of how dirty the clothes may be. So, that being said, when you do decide to thrift, make sure you wash, rinse and repeat. When you are looking for quality items in a thrift store, check for stains, smells and other dirt or grime that won’t wash out. These are not worth your money and it’ll probably end up in the trash. The “clean” items–meaning the ones with no stains, no smokey odors, no visible holes or grime–is what you’re looking for. Once you find these, it’s time to wash. I wash a newly purchased thrift item a good 1-2 times before wearing. If the article can’t be washed in a washing machine, I usually run it to a local dry cleaners for a good clean. Jewelry just needs to take a couple of dips in a jewelry cleaner that you can buy practically anywhere. Shoes are harder to clean, but not impossible: use disinfectant spray, sprinkle the insides with some baby powder, leave for a couple of days and then empty them out. Make sure you wash, rinse and repeat when it comes to thrifted items! Although it requires some effort, it’s totally worth it in the end.
