Thursday Afternoon Product Review
Every now and then, we are reminded of products from long ago. Items that for whatever reason we loved at the time and just abandoned them.
For me, it’s The Body Shop. People in Macon, Georgia probably think I am referring to this clothing store that was like a second rate Charlotte Russe (yeah- remember that one too?). However that’s not the case.
I first discovered this The Body Shop while visiting cousins in Birmingham, Alabama for Thanksgiving. They had all of these amazing bath products, and while I did not yet appreciate it fully, they touted their use of natural ingredients. It sounded really cool to 13 year old me. They also had this bar with different essential oils and awesome smells. My MOST favorite was strawberry. And with the allowance and babysitting money I had, I bought their strawberry shower gel. And signed up for their catalog.
I think I made a few orders after that, of course not having a checking account made it difficult to do on my own and my parents weren’t terribly thrilled with my growing interest in high end products. (Maybe it’s one of the reasons I like them SO much now???? Anyways….) I do remember them coming out with their Tea Tree Oil line, and I was totally sold of the idea of tea tree oil clearing up blemishes.
Fast forward… um, more than 15 years later to the present day. I ran across a retweet that someone I follow on Twitter posted about The Body Shop and out of curiosity- I took a look. Sure enough, they still had many of the lines I loved so much, and some new ones.
They had a sale at that time on their shower gels and of course I looked for strawberry. They did indeed have some, on sale, so I got two. As well as the Warming Mineral Mask and the Tea Tree Blemish Face Night Lotion.
I still love this shower gel– and so do my kids! Strawberry is such a light scent that it’s not overwhelming, and this particular line uses real strawberry seed oil and NO soap. So it’s not as likely to dry out your skin.
The Warming Mineral Mask sounded interesting to me because, as yall are probably aware, heat opens up pores. So it goes to reason that a warming mask would do the same. OMG- this is one of my favorite products now. I think it helps best if your wash your face first with an exfoliator and use warm water, but this seems to really do a good job of deep cleaning after surface debris is removed.
Lastly, the Tea Tree Blemish Night Face Lotion seemed rather interesting. I was curious to see if it would work. It hasn’t been very long yet, so I can’t see much difference but it also seems to work on preventing general breakouts. However- if one isn’t careful- too much of it can dry out your skin.
Happy shopping loves!!!
Love to all yall…
Molly
