Product Review Friday: Interview with Mitch Kersey of Amanda Jane Salon and Spa

Every now and then, I have what I call a lightbulb moment. Today’s lightbulb moment came when I went to interview Mitch Kersey of Amanda Jane Salon and Spa about some of the products he carries.

Did you know that the sun can dry out your hair, just like it does to your skin? It’s such an obvious statement yet I had never thought about it before. Of course I already knew that chlorine was bad for your hair, but I had never thought about the sun. Also add in salt water from the beach. All of it can cause your hair to dry out and color treatments to fade. As someone who colors her hair, of course I spend a decent amount of money on the proper shampoo and conditioner to maintain my color- but a lot of good it does me if I am not doing the same when I am in the sun. Oh and- the tanning bed can do the same as well!

So, here are some products that Mitch and I discussed (and I may have gotten to sample them as well):

Aveda’s Sun Care Protective Hair Veil

Are you a fan of music festivals- kind of like Bragg Jam this weekend in Macon? Do they put you in the sun for hours listening to your favorite bands? Or do you maybe catch the occasional sun in the tanning bed, or even spend time gardening? This is for you. Spray some of this in your hair prior to going in the sun, just like the SPF you put on your skin this will protect your hair.

Aveda’s Sun Care Hair and Body Cleanser

This cleanser is effective for both your hair and body for removing salt and chlorine and providing the optimal base, if you will, for follow up products to take full effect.

Aveda’s Sun Care After Sun Masque

So, it makes perfect sense that even after first protecting your hair from the elements, and washing those elements out one would still need to put moisture back in. I have found that hair masques are extremely effective, even if only used occasionally, in restoring much needed moisture to the hair. And I have very fine hair- so if I can get use out of it then anyone can.

While at Amanda Jane I went ahead and got recommendations for other products- for instance, Oribe’s Dry texturizing spray. My hair gets oily SO EASILY. It really does so I asked Mitch about this product and you know what he did? I thought he had about lost his damn mind when he said “Look” and sprayed it right in front of my face. Y’all- this is my next miracle product. Zero residue on my face. Just a light, effective spray. It works. In fact I’m tempted to buy a bottle and feature it as my next giveaway on here… what do yall think?

I can’t even tell yall how excited I am about my new finds. I even have a few more I learned about, however I’m going to save them for another post… can’t giveaway all of my new finds at once!!

So- if you want to try these products for yourself be sure to go see Mitch and his team at Amanda Jane. Also if you like them on Facebook, they’re doing a huge giveaway along with fab’rik boutique. So- be sure to go and like them so you can win!

Til next time-

Love to all yall,

Molly
