Tasty Tuesday: Memaw’s on Mumford

Sometimes you run across a place that’s totally unexpected- and it’s such a joy.

When my friend Brian Whitley shared a link from The Telegraph about Memaw’s at LG’s Restaurant on Mumford road- I knew it had to be good. Brian is someone who’s tastes I trust and who will be opening his own spot, Piedmont Brewery, with his wife not soon enough for me.

For my readers who aren’t used to going someplace seemingly in the middle of nowhere, prepare yourselves: this isn’t the part of Mumford Road you might expect. It’s a rougher looking part of town, but trust me when I say you need to go.

I was totally overwhelmed by all of the choices on the menu. I ended up going with the pulled pork, black-eyed peas, mac n’cheese and buttermilk pie. But I wanted so much more.

It was so so so good. Sometimes you need something simple to eat, simple but complex at once. It reminded me of home- if home was really far away.

And the inside is really pretty, too. This is definitely lunch-date-impress-someone worthy.

While there I also ran into my Leadership Macon 2014 classmate Al Tillman, who apparently has his own appointed booth called, jokingly, “his office”.

I also got to meet Memaw, and she was so lovely and nice- actually, everyone was.

Give something different a chance and check out Memaw’s!!!

Love to all y’all,
