A Reason to Dance: Latin Pop Revolution

One of my very favorites concert series of each year will conclude its season with a Latin Pop Revolution on March 16th at Mercer University’s Hawkins Arena- and you will NOT want to miss it!

From their press release:

“This performance is set to bring a high level of energy, excitement and Latin-inspired dance moves. Guest singer and actress, Christina Souza will be joining the stage with the orchestra. Souza has performed with mega superstars such as Bette Midler, Barbara Streisand, and Taylor Dayne. She was a guest artist on shows such as, Navy NCIS, CSI Miami, Boston Legal, Medium, Girlfriends, Becker, Lost, Hawaii 5’0 and Off the Map.

‘I enjoy the juxtaposition of pop music with the orchestra,’ says Souza, who has performed with Macon Pops’ founders, Matt Catingub and Steve Moretti in the past. Souza will be singing a couple of songs in Spanish and Portuguese and says she is looking forward to the party atmosphere Latin Pop music inspires.”

And in other exciting news, Macon Pops has launched ‘For the Love of Music,’ a campaign focused on providing exposure and engagement with the musical organization. Elementary, Middle and High School students will have the opportunity to attend a Macon Pops rehearsal, talk to the musicians, learn about the production of musical concerts, learn how a non-profit operates and lastly, will be able to attend the concert for free.

“Dan Tyner, band director with the Academy for Classical Education (ACE Charter School) in Macon is excited that students will engage directly with world-renown musicians. ‘Our exploration of the different styles of music has been limited, so this is a perfect opportunity for the band scholars to hear exciting music, played well by professionals.’ Tyner is in his 20th year of teaching band in Macon and says he has had several students attend performances by Macon Pops.”

Macon Pops has always been one of my favorite events, from the very first one I went to. I strongly encourage you not to miss it! I’ve loved every single one I’ve been to (as you can see below):
