Outfit of the Day: Going from Work to Fired Works Preview Party

<sigh> What to do?

Making sure one is dressed appropriately for work as well as fun afterwards can be a bit of a challenge, especially if the weather has been less than cooperative. Luckily this past Friday is was like the Gods of Fashion came together. Not only did the weather cooperate but I actually woke up early enough to plan a little bit about what I was wearing.

So. Challenge. Look cute, of course. Incorporate color. Tie in a work appropriate blazer, at the lease (even if it is Friday). And accessorize.

This was the result:

This is one of my very favorite-est Tibi finds from their sample sale on St. Simons Island. The shoes are Anne Klein from about two years ago that I got for Easter and they have held up remarkably well. The scarf was a gift from fab’rik from their one year anniversary, and, I swear, the jacket is from K-Mart. I actually have a few items I got there back from my Enterprise-Rent-a-Car-I-wash-cars-in-my-suits days.

I also had a brilliant moment when my toe nail polish from Julep perfectly matched the hints of purple in my shoes. Boo-yah. Yeah.

Accessories are my pear stud earrings by Diana Warner from Karats and Keepsakes, my stand-by ol’ faithful Tiffany necklace, and an assortment of bracelets by Knot + Bow Designs, Betsy Pittard Designs, my Anne Klein watch, and others.

This is the perfect work-to-play outfit, especially when the weather is sunny. The dress was also long enough to not be dangerous in the windy weather we had. Oh wait- I’m getting ahead. What makes it perfect for work-to-play? Just remove blazer and go:

So, now yall have an example of the perfect work-to-play outfit AND my Outfit of the Day for last Friday.

Aside from that, the Fired Works Preview Party was SUPER fun. Sterling Waite and the Cotton Avenue Hustlers were amazing as always, the food was divine and the art a-ma-zing. As always. If you didn’t make it never fear, you still have time to make it to plenty of Fired Works events! Go here for events and tickets: (and also to see the first website I managed at my job) www.firedworksmacon.com
