Octoberfest: Macon Style

Beer. Food. Fun. And all proceeds go to charity. What in the WORLD could I be talking about?

10 Georgia Breweries: Sweetwater, Terrapin, Red Hare, Jailhouse Brewing, Macon Beer Company, O’Dempsey’s, Burnt Hickory, Strawn, Coastal Empire, Southbound Brewing.

9 Georgia bands: Charles Walker & The Dynamites, Dirty Doves, Travis Denning, Ruby Velle & The Soulphonics, Saint Francis, The Whiskey Gentry, Stevens Layne, Lera Lynn, Shawn Mullins.

It’s the very first Macon Octoberfest!

To start things off- Friday’s Kick-off event is the Founders Feast at the Armory Ballroom and it features German cuisine from the Moonhanger Group.

The number of events is insane. To purchase tickets go here. I spoke with Roger Riddle, Director of Marketing for The Moonhanger Group which is catering and sponsoring the event (correction: I previously said they were putting it on) “The Main Event is the Macon Octoberfest Beer Garden: It’s open Saturday from 11am – 10pm. Sunday from 12pm to 7pm. It will be in front of the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame under large tents and will feature vendors, music, food, and beer,” said Riddle.

“Other events include an officially sanctioned Georgia Cyclocross bike race, the Brewers Brunch at the 1842 Inn on Sunday, and a Homebrew Competition. It is designed to mimic the layout of the Munich Octoberfest.”
Absolutely 100% of the proceeds go to charity. This is the first year it’s being held and the charities benefitting are the Macon Volunteer Clinic, United Cerebral Palsy of Georgia, Central Georgia Breast Care Center and the L.H. Harris Ecology Center.
So…. for those of you who STILL INSIST that there’s nothing to do in Macon and that you don’t know about it, well, here ya go. The cost is reasonable especially for what all you get with it. So get out there and have some fun!
Oh but wait- there is more. I have tickets! To give away! Be sure to check out my Facebook page to win- I’ll be giving them away randomly to the first people who comment.
Don’t say I don’t love yall- cause I do…
Love to all yall,
Molly
