The Miracle of the Right Size Jeans
This may seem totally obvious to anyone else but….
Wearing the right size jeans makes all the difference in the world!!!
How did I come to this earth shattering conclusion? Well, it all started with some weight gain…. we’ve all been there. We have some jeans that are just a little too small for us, really just in the waist, and we figure we’ll lose the weight soon enough with just a little effort and just keep wearing them.
Keeping on wearing the too small jeans turns in to a small muffin top, which turns in to- “damn, I need to buy more tops that are a little blousy” which evolves in to ” damn it- I CAN’T wear this this and this top because it’s just too tight around my middle” which then becomes frustration of epic proportions.
Now, I don’t buy cheap jeans. So when I can’t wear them I immediately start doing math and get extra frustrated. I just need to get my ass in the gym and then I can wear them again- it’s just five or ten pounds, not much!
Then, finally, I said to hell with it and bought a new pair of jeans cause they were on sale at Rumor- the Paige dark denims that I raved about before because they’re so freakin soft. I figure I’ve got years ahead of me of weight fluctuation and I know this is a good brand and they will hold up and to hell with it- they can be my “fat” jeans (don’t lecture me about how I’m not fat- I know this- I’m speaking tongue in cheek here).
And then…. on a further whim, I put on a favorite top that’s literally 15 years old and I just assumed I wouldn’t be able to wear it out of the house because it’s been relegated to the back of the closet because it’s too tight around my middle.
EXCEPT IT’S NOT WHEN I’M WEARING JEANS THAT ACTUALLY FIT! It’s like my closet has been opened right on up again. I figure, if I got caught in a rut of trying to wear too small jeans and then casting off tops thinking they were too small when really they were FINE if I had only worn the right size jeans…. then surely others have as well.
So. I know it sucks to go and buy new jeans, but do it. You’ll save the money later for not having to buy new tops.
You’re welcome.
