Melting the Stress (and other things) Away: Massage by Amanda Jane
I know a ton of people who have never had a massage in their lives. Most of the time this seems to come from perceived falsehoods. ” It’s too expensive” or ” Won’t I have to be NAKED” or in the South “NEKKED on the table?!” Or even ” Um, are they really qualified to do this?”
I recently had a lovely hour and half massage courtesy of Chantelle at Amanda Jane Salon in downtown Macon. I’ve been to her many, many times and used this as a chance to do a short interview as well.
So let’s go ahead and set some things straight now.
1. Not all massages are expensive. Unless you are going to a resort where you will spend $100+ per session as a tourist, and let’s face it when you are on vacation most anything will be more expensive, then massages can run anywhere from $40 a session and up depending on your location, length of service and the service itself.
2. Nekkedness – no you do not have to be totally “necked” under the covers of the blankets and sheets, you can totally go with your own comfort level.
3. Qualification- Massage therapists are required by the state to have hours upon hours of certification. This is not a fly-by-night profession.
The most important thing to remember is to do your research beforehand and find someone with a great reputation- and then to develop a relationship with that person. It’s always good to have other options as well. Chantelle is the main massage therapist that I used but I have two others in town as well who are awesome.
Something else about massage and it’s benefits- it literally serves to warm your muscles up and get stuck metabolic waste out of your body. How? When you workout your body is processing chemicals within and produces metabolic waste. Many times this waste can get stuck in the muscles. Massage serves to work it out- however you HAVE to drink lots and lots of water to help it flush out of your body. Sometimes you can even get your doctor to write a prescription for massage and get your insurance company to reimburse you.
I love going to see Chantelle, it’s a way I can treat myself. You can learn more about her here on the Amanda Jane Facebook page and on her website here. Even the room itself is relaxing with soft lighting and the most amazing sheets ever. Ever. It’s a fantastic way to get rid of stress, but also to get some true therapy.
Go run and see her now- her schedule books quickly!
Love to all y’all,
Molly
