I Always Learn My Lessons The Hard Way (Or- Dumb Things I Do During Photo Shoots)
It never fails.
The moment I don’t put makeup on, or worse yet don’t even have it WITH ME, is when I’m going to have a photo taken.
One example would be Election Day- just a few weeks ago here in Macon, Georgia. The Macon Arts Alliance posted that they would be giving away these limited edition Jason Frost Posters for those who stopped by showing they had voted. And they wanted to take a picture of you posing with said item and then post to Facebook. Who wasn’t wearing makeup? Who was a little broken out that day? WHO DIDN’T BRING THEIR MAKEUP BAG WITH THEM THAT DAY?!
This girl. Classic. Thank GOD for Instagram filters which disguised my less than ideal appearance.
It’s happened plenty of times before but the most recent example was last night. I wrote an article on scarves for The Cluster, the Mercer University student newspaper. Great fine I brought scarves with me. I didn’t bother washing my hair the night before cause I planned on going to the gym that day and washing it after the gym. Due to various circumstances, including losing my earbuds for my iPhone (essential workout material), I didn’t make it to the gym. Ok cool no problem, the pictures will be small. Fine.
EXCEPT NOT. Who ends up on the cover of the newspaper with greasy hair? Me. The fashion blogger. It’s freakin Murphey’s Law of hair care and makeup. At least this time I did have my makeup in the car but my hair still looked bad.
For those of you who are all judgy-judgy right now about the fact that I am whining about my hair let’s just go ahead and call some BS right here cause yall KNOW if you were going to be on the cover of the paper you wouldn’t want greasy hair either.
Typical. Lesson learned: keep my makeup on me and find a dry shampoo that actually works. And maybe learn to use a curling iron (not sure why that is so hard for me).
Now- the second part of this blog post- Dumb Things I Do During Photo Shoots.
I….. am going to blame this on a lack of sleep and spur of the moment shooting outside. Trey Smith, our Photography Editor, after shooting me inside says let’s go outside on campus. Ok cool.
Now keep in mind, I am the same girl who climbed up one side of a grain silo in a full length chiffon gown. Stupid.
So what does my genius behind do? Climb on top of Cruz Plaza walls.
Just another day in my life!!!
Love to all yall (and go read The Cluster!!! we reviewed The Rookery too!)
