Can I Say Again How Much I LOVE Macon?!
I’m sure sometimes I may seem like a Pollyanna a bit when it comes to my hometown, but it’s nights like tonight that really make me say- Gosh I really do LOVE this town so freaking much!
And really it was the whole weekend that did it. It happens rather often but like my friend Angel said in a previous post, there was just SO MUCH happening this weekend and it was impossible to do it all.
But it’s not just that there was so much to do, it’s that you can go to all kinds of events and see people at each that you know and love to see. Follow me for a minute: how many times have you heard friends say things like ” oh my gosh there is just SO MUCH do to in Atlanta and Macon just isn’t the same”.
Thank God it’s not the same. I don’t think I would enjoy going to an event in Atlanta and not seeing friends and acquaintances at each turn. On the Vineville Tour of Homes yesterday I was able to meet up with not just my friend Katie but I also got to meet her mom and aunt. I love that. I love that I can meet the families of my friends. And while on the tour there were two homes of personal friends of mine as well, and even people who I may not have known but I knew of them.
I even ran in to an old customer of mine at Enterprise and her mother and aunt, and this customer was able to say “Oh y’all know Molly’s grandmother, she owns that lovely house in Cherokee Heights and she’s an artist”. Now while sometimes having everyone know your business can be stifling, um trust me- been there done THAT my divorce is an excellent example- it’s also fantastic to have that feeling of being at home.
I also had the chance to interview Joanna Jones about her new starring role on HGTV’s “Beat the House”- in Atlanta I wouldn’t be able to message someone like that at literally 1:00 am asking for an interview, getting a response of “YES!” right afterwards, and then answers to my questions that very same evening. (By the way- that blog post has helped make today my highest read page on my blog so thank you all!)
Last night’s Macon Pops Concert was another huge example. I asked my friend Floco Torres who was performing if he would please give a birthday shout out to my brother *and he did*. Can you find that in Atlanta? Probably not. Steve Moretti was also kind enough to thank me, and the other media sponsors, during intermission. I had so many people say “wow! you got a shout out!” just afterwards. People would not have come up to me and said as much if this were in Atlanta.

I just feel like I cannot say enough how much I love this town. I am excited to spread my blog to other parts of Georgia and to learn about other parts of the state, as you will see in some future entries, but Macon will always hold my heart.
