BIrchbox Product Reviews: Nyakio, Kind, and Beauty Protector
I am sadly behind on my Birchbox reviews, but I have to say I’m exceptionally happy with my Birchboxes as of late.
The most recent one included not just beauty products but also on of the Kind bars, which included ingredients like quinoa in it. I’ve thought about cooking with quinoa lately, but honestly I don’t have the time. And I would love to have something quick I can grab that is both healthy too. It looks like I might have found such a product!
The Maple Pumpkin Seeds Bar with the touch of Sea Salt was really, really good. Plus, these bars have a social entrepreneurship focus as well.
Another product in my box this past month is from Nyakio. There were small samples of a facial scrub, a body scrub, and a facial oil. The facial scrub, aside from looking kind of bad, smells like coffee. Which makes sense since the product is made from founder Nyakio Kamoche Grieco’s line inspired by her families beauty secrets from Kenya.
” Passionate about beauty from a young age and yearning to be an entrepreneur, Nyakio thoroughly researched the cosmetics industry and realized that many cultures were represented in the world of beauty but that the sophistication of Africa was missing. She decided to not only fill a gap in the market but also honor her heritage by bottling Africa’s timeless beauty traditions. She partnered with Gurwitch Products, a wholly owned subsidiary of Alticor Inc. and owners of Laura Mercier Cosmetics and RéVive Skincare brands.” – from the website
The scrub itself wasn’t too bad, I think many times I am used to facial scrubs that are harsher. So if you’re the type of person that prefers a scrub that isn’t as harsh on your skin or perhaps if you have sensitive skin then this would be perfect for you.
Another product that I got quite a while ago, probably one of my first boxes, is the Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle hair spray. I LOVE the smell of this stuff and I hate that I’ve run out- so I guess I need to order more. And my hair held up well under the heat of the hairdryer with it.
All in all, I need to get on top of these reviews more often. And for only $10/month- I highly recommend Birchbox to anyone.
UPDATE: I didn’t realize I got a bonus for people signing up!!! So yeah- if you want to try it, it would be super awesome if you used this link- https://www.birchbox.com/invite/makeitworkmolly
