Beloved Downtown Macon Bakery Stays Open

Custom cake and cupcake orders are still available. Retail storefront for walk in business temporarily closed.

Confusion has abounded in Macon after a local newspaper article reported Amanda’s Cakery would be shutting down their storefront- saying “Macon is about to lose its bake shop on Cotton”.

While one won’t be able to casually stroll in for the occasional afternoon cupcake, special orders are still available.

Brides need not panic, and real estate agents need not to call about renting the space out… because Amanda’s Cakery is still baking and decorating cakes.

But a key part of the story remains to be told, and that is one of true love and romance.

As Amanda has helped so many to make their days special, the central part of this story also centers around love. The one that she holds in her heart.

Amanda, call you tell us more about how you met your husband?

We met at my cakery. He lived a block up, the cakery was on his running route. He bought cupcakes for a year before leaving his number.
I tried to break it off on our third date, I told him I would never leave my cakery, but he was persistent. He loved my cupcakes, and little did I know, he would love me.
Three and half years later, my husband, best friend & love of my life, and I have been living 4,400 miles away from each other in two different continents for more than over two years.
Before he moved to Germany, he was deployed with the Air Force and I did not see him not even a day for six months. We’ve been doing the long distance relationship for the past 2 years, seeing each other for just a couple of weeks at a time every three months or so.

The Monday after we got married May 14, 2016 he had to fly back to Germany, in fact. This year has been the fist year we’ll be able to see each other more.

The two of you are really doing our country a huge service, I can’t imagine what kind of a sacrifice it must be to be away from him. And this is why you’ve chosen to alter your business, so you can be with him?

The only reason.

So this really is a love story at heart.

What are your plans when his service is complete?

His commitment in Germany will end February 2018; he has requested to come back to Robins Air Force Base. We plan to offer services in our storefront once we are both stateside. No definite date has been determined.

Well, we look forward to having y’all both back here on a daily basis- and are grateful that you get to be with him daily now that you’ve made this decision.

So, you can still get your cakes from Amanda’s Cakery!

Love to all y’all,

Molly
