Baby Girl is FIVE!!!
My baby girl introduces herself to people as ” Lily Kate Kathryn Corley Wilkins”- he name isn’t really that long, but it’s close. It came because her father and I really wanted to called her Lily Kate, and we disagreed on how to spell Kathryn. The ultimate spelling came about because it was the same as my former mother-in-law…. I wanted it to be “Katherine” after my great-grandmother. And my argument was that our son, Bishop, was not only named after his father (William Bishop) but also his mother- as it was her maiden name.
It wasn’t a pretty argument, but I said fine- we can go with Kathryn so long as she has another name in there from my side of the family. Corley is my grandmother’s maiden name. So- Lily Kathryn Corley Wilkins. It’s a big name for a little girl, and one I was worried she might not grow in to someday.
Lily Kate was just a quiet little baby, whereas her brother Bishop was born with personality. Flash forward to when LK was a little over a year old and her personality came flying out.
And it’s been a wild ride ever since. This is the little girl who picked up on the phrase- you “threw him under the bus” and knows what it means. Ie: ” Mommy- I just threw you under the bus.” Yes- yes you did.
This is the little girl who the moment she sees a camera- poses. Seriously.
She also loves to antagonize her brother- and has been busted quite a bit here lately for stirring the pot.
She’s everyones little ray of sunshine, even when she’s being stubborn. She loves to sing and to dance and has decided here lately she wants to make jewelry. The necklace in the picture below is one she designed and had mommy put together.
She’s got the biggest heart, just like her brother, and it’s going to be amazing to see what she ends up doing with her life. Right now, she says she wants to be a scientist “because scientists are smart and I’m a smart girl”.
I’ll be proud of her no matter what she does with her life- she and her brother are the clearest examples of God having a plan for each of us. Because I had given up on ever having babies when brother B came along- and I certainly wasn’t planning on another one when LK graced us with her presence. But it’s clear that God meant for them to come in to my world- and that they are destined for greatness.
Lily Kate- I love you baby girl! And I’m so honored to be your Mommy, you remind me of that every time you say you want to dress like me, and to be like me, to have your hair cut like me- and when I hear my own mannerisms coming out of that sweet mouth. Even if I cringe when I hear it- baby girl is really good at throwing Mommy under the bus. But only in the sweetest, most amusing ways possible.
Love to the Sweetest Little Baby Girl in the Whole Wide World,
Molly
