A Sneak Peek: Vineville Tour of Homes

I had the chance to speak with Andrew and Shari Berndt via email about their home, which is on this year’s Vineville Tour of Homes. Their home is one of the ones the City of Macon donated to Strong Tower Fellowship for updating. And I’m so glad to see it because I’ve driven past these homes often and didn’t realize our city had donated them to Strong Tower.

” My wife Shari and I are excited to be a part of the Vineville Tour of Homes because of what it represents specifically to our Strong Tower Fellowship community and generally to the Pleasant Hill neighborhood,” Andrew said.

” While we are not entirely sure of the longer history of our cute little cottage home, we are mindful of its recent history.  Before the city government of Macon donated our home to Strong Tower Fellowship in February 2015, our home had been abandoned and in disrepair for almost 10 years.”

” Complete with shattered windows and lacking all of its metals that could be stripped and sold for money, 2252 Clayton Street was an eye sore to passersby and a reminder of the blight that has plagued the Pleasant Hill neighborhood in recent memory.”

” With a vision of hope and certainty for the future, of God’s complete restoration of the entire universe (including Pleasant Hill) at the return of His Son Jesus Christ, Strong Tower Fellowship raised enough funds to repair and restore our cottage and three others just like it (in addition to four more homes down Holts Lane).”

” While we look forward to seeing Google Maps update our street one day, we love seeing the August 2012 picture of our home, in all its blight, that is currently on Google Maps, because it reminds us that this neighborhood is moving towards restoration, away from where it has been recently and towards where it used to be.  My wife and I love our cute little cottage home because we know that living here is a blessing from God as well as a call to be part of His work in Pleasant Hill through Strong Tower Fellowship, our church.”

Be sure to check out this lovely home on the Vineville Tour of Homes December 5th and 6th!
