Southern Style Monday: The Last Statement Bag You’ll Ever Need- Legacy Design

I have a love hate relationship with many of my handbags- and trust me, I have many of them.

Clutches for evenings out or when I don’t need to carry a lot.

Top handle bags for when I need something stylish and cute but have my hands free to carry them. Or crossbody bags that are just too cute.

Medium size bags that can fit a lot of stuff but not my laptop, maybe my camera or ipad along with eveyrthing else. Large totes that can carry it all.

And timeless statement bags.

What I have the hardest time finding is a large tote that can carry it all, still be cute, and have substantial straps that won’t fray.

What do I mean by “it all”? Hee hee…. well let’s see….

Laptop. Laptop cords. Phone cords. Earbuds. Water bottle. Wallet. Makeup bag (s). Bags with contact solution, toothbrush, tooth paste, and bandaids. iPad. Two phones. Camera. More.

I finally found a bag that can HOLD ALL OF IT- without falling apart. And it’s cute and deisgned locally! I’m super excited to introduce Legacy Design.

Owner/CEO is Mitzi Galason, and she’s just a lovely person. Her husband, Ken, is the COO of Legacy Design. And Shelley Roberts is their Lead Designer and holds an art degree from Bauder College in Atlanta.

Mitzi was kind enough to tell me more about Legacy and their bags:

“Our leather is full grain leather which means that it is the highest quality leather on the market. It is made to last forever and the more you carry your bag the better it looks!

Our line is also designed, manufactured, and produced by myself and my husband, Ken. We are currently on display at 24 stores across the us and we also have an ecommerce website set up for people to purchase our products there.

The difference between full grain and go ions leather is listed on my blog as a blog post at: www.legacyboutique.net.”

But something really cool is this, they have a purpose much bigger than just themselves:

“Our purpose is to mentor middle school and high school kids teaching them their strengths as an individual and how to use their strengths in a team setting to achieve BIGGER goals. Part of that consist of us leading them on mission trips and giving them scholarships toward their trip. Last year we lead a team of 19 to Rwanda Africa, we raised funds for the playgrounds and for the entire team to go, while on the ground we built 3 play grounds for Africa new life ministries. Today we are working with about 175 middle school kids in our community.”

I also tried out their Large Weekender for the upcoming Girl Meets City: Birmingham post and y’all- it held up well and was easy to carry. I could have gotten everything in it had I not packed my tall boots as well! They could have fit had I sat them in sideways, but I just didn’t think of that at the time. It’s also really pretty and has a large pocket inside and a key holder.

Y’all, I swear I love my Box Tote bag more and more everyday. I’ve been hard on it on purpose and while many bags lose their ability to work properly with wear, this one gets better. Much like my Louis Vuitton. But more unique, more special. Don’t get me wrong I love my LV, but I love that this bag is designed locally, and they have a real purpose behind what they do. I may be shopping locally, but it’s benefitting globally.

Note: You can also find these bags at Rumor Boutique in Macon! And elsewhere across the Southeastern United States, they have a full listing of retailers here.

Love to all y’all,

Molly
