I grew up in an artistic home: my mother and grandmother are both artists and my mother also teaches art currently. Hell for that matter my grandmother used to teach art as well. And HER mother was a piano teacher! Suffice it to say, we are a creative bunch. I was always that kid growing up who really couldn’t afford expensive clothing, until I hit middle school and I started to care. This was when I first started reading Vogue and other such magazines, and I realized that clothing is many times like wearing art- but better. Clothing, no matter the designer or the price or even mass production, is always going to be made unique by the wearer: whether it be by the accessories added or simply the fact that every person is unique.
So, this is where the love and passion started. To keep it rather simple. And to me it’s FUN. It’s SO much fun to take items in my closet and put them together in ways that one might not ordinarily think of. And it’s fun to follow other bloggers and how they do it too. The Man Repeller (http://www.manrepeller.com/ ) is a fun one to me, she’s very usual. Just go to her site and see. She defines a “man repeller” as :
man·re·pell·er1 [mahn-ree-peller]
–noun
outfitting oneself in a sartorially offensive way that will result in repelling members of the opposite sex. Such garments include but are not limited to harem pants, boyfriend jeans, overalls (see: human repelling), shoulder pads, full length jumpsuits, jewelry that resembles violent weaponry and clogs.
–verb (used without object),-pell·ing, -pell·ed.
to commit the act of repelling men:
Girl 1: What are you wearing to the party?
Girl 2: My sweet lime green drop crotch utility pants!
Girl 1: Oh, so we’re man repelling tonight?

Sorry, I can’t get this thing to indent to show proper quotation. Now, one of my favorite FAVORITE designers is Tibi. And Tibi has a link on their blog to show other bloggers (http://www.tibi.com/blog/ ). This I love because it automatically takes me and shows me what other people on the streets are doing with my favorite, well one of, my favorite designers and how they are mixing Tibi with other pieces. You think I could get my picture on their blog? What about this one:
Or this same dress from the FOODIE awards for Macon Food and Culture Magazine last year?
Anyways… I’ve gotten off topic. I am hoping that with my “outfit/shoe” of the day postings I can show you some real ways to blend not just designer pieces but also stuff that regular people can wear and afford. Like my last posting with a Target skirt and fab’rik shoes. But again- THIS IS WHERE THE FUN IS!!! And you can do it too! I promise.
Ah well I think I have rambled on long enough. But I hope this let’s yall in to my mind a lil bit, so that you know I have a true passion for this. It;s important to me that you know that. And every so often, you may be entitled to my other musings as well, such as little thoughts about my children and the like.
Til next time…
Love,
