What To Wear With Cocktails in the Heat: Southern Stylin’

I apologize for my absence the past few days- I’ve been quite busy running around preparing for my #GirlMeetsDublin post for y’all as well as a third Petit Four War one and so much more!

Anyways. As I was on my way out of town to Dublin, I decided to stop in the Rumor Boutique. It’s been a favorite of mine for a long time, and they were the first advertiser to support this blog so I very much appreciate them. I’ve been wanting a pair of these patterned “joggers” (as they are being called now) for a little while and knew I could count on Rumor.
Not only did I find the perfect pants, but I also found a nice white shirt to go with them. The Piko shirts have been quickly growing in popularity around the South, my guess would be because they aren’t very expensive (this shirt falls in at just under $30) and are made of a good quality material. Plus, their design is such that they are light and fall loosely from the body- which is essential in our heat. Here you see I paired them with the Akola project necklace in the store, today I am wearing the same outfit with my Sixter Handmade scarf (also from Rumor) as well as pearl earrings, a Diana Warner ring and my Michael Kors watch. I feel very “urbanized-boho chic”. I also wore this outfit to dinner with heels Friday evening, it’s one that can be easily dressed up or down for cocktails or brunch.
While there, I found a second outfit that I fell in love with. One thing that bothers me about summer fashions is it is SO HARD to find cocktail dresses in the summer time. It just is. Ones that have the appropriate coloring for the summer weather, have a little bit of “glintz” as I will call it, and also are the right cut and length for a cocktail dress. THIS ONE IS PERFECT!
The coloring it perfect, the sweetheart neckline is one of my favorite go-to-cocktail dress styles along with the length, and it has a little bit of sheen to it. This is your go to cocktail dress for summer.
