Want to Escape Cherry Blossom? You Can #CreateTheCool
As much as locals love Cherry Blossom, sometimes it’s nice to escape to something a little different.
Or, if you’re visiting during Cherry Blossom and want to check out something only the locals know about- then this is what you want to see this weekend.
There’s a movement called #CreateTheCool that some of my friends are talking about. Don’t like what’s going on? Then #CreateTheCool! Here we go….
Start your First Friday off at lunch with the Disco Lunch at Roasted Cafe & Lounge! Macon’s own internationally touring DJ Shawty Slim will be spinning all the best songs:
Perinnial Macon favorites Megan Jean and the KFB are in town from their native South Carolina and will be performing at Roasted Cafe & Lounge Friday, April 1st. Step into Roasted for their new dinner menu beforehand, also, they serve til 10:00 p.m.
And since it’s First Friday, so there will be all kinds of art events at Macon Arts Alliance and elsewhere to check out leading up to the Megan Jean set!
From the Macon Arts Alliance page:
Exhibit debuts the First Friday of April!
“Colorful Distraction” features photography from Doug Nurnberger and glass work by Kelly Robertson.
Free entry and light refreshments served! Exhibit will be on display through April 30.
Sponsored by our amazing friends at Vein Specialists of the South and Spa Medical!”
That leads us to Saturday. Remember DJ Shawty Slim? If you missed him Friday at lunch you can catch him again Saturday with DJ Bruce Wonder at the first The Soundtrack: DJ and a Movie at the Cox Capitol Theatre.
Imagine a day party inside of a movie theatre equipped with two full service bars, your favorite cult classic, & the best tacos in town. Imagine this event took place on the finale weekend of the pinkest festival of the spring.
Saturday, April 2nd, DSEL Promotions reinvents the party concept in Macon…
DJ Bruce Wonder & DJ Shawty Slim invite you to experience “The Soundtrack”, LIVE at the Cox Capitol Theatre.
$5 grants you access to this unique party experience.
Come and #CreateTheCool with us!
Then check out the Mulberry Street Arts Festival on Sunday put on by the Middle Georgia Arts Association. Many people think it’s a Cherry Blossom event, and while it happens at the same time it’s actually not a Cherry Blossom event! Come and see various vendors and artists on a lovely Sunday in downtown Macon.
And, as always, there are a ton of restaurants downtown to check out while you’re enjoying all the fun. We love Roasted, El Camino, Parish, Dovetail, Rookery and more.
Want to hang out after hours? We’re big fans of the Bourbon Bar and The Humingbird. 🙂
Get out this weekend and #CreateTheCool!
Love to all y’all,
Molly
