The Ubiquitous {Jumpsuit}

You can call it a flashback to the 70’s.

You can call it Retro Chic.

But the jumpsuit is back, jack- and in a really big way.

I would say this can be traced back to when rompers really started to edge back in to style about three years ago, it was only a matter of time before the grown-up version (the jumpsuit) would soon follow.

But something I hear a lot of women say is that they have a hard time finding one that fits their shape. The jumpsuit seems to fall in to the enviable realm of only for the tall and skinny. Let me assure y’all, regardless of my photos- I am neither tall nor skinny.

However I have found two jumpsuits that have fit my frame well. The first was found on sale at The Red Dress Boutique in Athens, Georgia. It features a sexy-fied plunging back and flattering bell sleeves and flowing legs. This allows the emphasis on the tapered waist line. It is, honestly, a little long in the leg- so I still need to hem it up.

(Note: I am only 5 foot 3 inches tall. I just wear heels in photos a lot.)

The second one I found was just a couple of weeks ago at fab’rik in Macon. It is one of the most universally flattering items I have and here is why:

Sweetheart neckline- so it gives shape to any size bust

Tapered waist/bodice fit- helps create an hourglass figure

Darts at the waist- for someone like me who does NOT NOT NOT have anywhere near a flat tummy and still the obvious leftover parts of having two babies and two c-sections, this is incredibly flattering

Tapered ankles/harem pant feel- despite the fact that the Man Repeller references harem pants as part of her Man Repelling items, I actually like them right now because with the darts and tapered waist it draws attention down my legs

This is also the type of item that you can easily dress up or down depending on the accessories. Want a more casual look? Add a blazer and brogues. Dress it up to the nines? Glamorous sparkly necklace, heels. and clutch. Rock it up? Add a leather jacket and cut out heels.

I promise you can pull this off, too!

Love to all y’all,
