Ten Creative Ways to Spend Your Valentine’s Day

Whether you’re single or in a relationship, Valentine’s Day is inevitably filled with pressure and expectations. This Valentine’s Day, try and branch out by taking some creative approaches to how you spend your day!

[badge style=”2″]1[/badge] Visit a Nursing Home/Assisted Living/Retirement Community.

Seniors would love for you to pass out Valentines cards, cookies, or just to spend time and talk to them (most of them have super cool stories too). With over 30 options in a 29 mile radius, there are tons to choose from. However, most of them require a call ahead to let the residents and staff know you are coming. This is a great idea for couples, a group of friends, or just you! (They always appreciate people).

[badge style=”3″]2[/badge] Take a nature trip.

With all the junk that gets attached to Valentine’s Day, it’s good to take a breather and visit a nature spot to get some time for relaxation. With multiple parks in Macon such as Lake Tobesofkee, the Ocmulgee National Monuments, and High Falls State park, there are plenty of options with walking trails, historic sites, and more. This is great for a group of friends, a couple or even if you feel like taking a walk by yourself to get some much needed space.

[badge style=”4″]3[/badge] Picnic.

I’m so surprised that the people of Macon don’t picnic that often. With so many parks to choose from, this is a great Valentine’s Day idea for families, groups or couples. Just pack a light lunch or dinner and spend some time together by playing soccer, Frisbee, or football.

[badge style=”5″]4[/badge] Movie Day.

I’m going to be biased and say just how much I love nights in. It’s great not to have to get too dressed up and just watch movies (with the option of a movie marathon). Grab some popcorn, a blanket, some fuzzy socks and curl up in front of a good romantic comedy and your night will be made.

[badge style=”2″]5[/badge] Have a party.

Whether you’re single or in a relationship, this is a good idea. Just get together and make/bring a whole bunch of delicious food, play some games and have fun! It’s always good to have an excuse to get together and eat! (Tons of food and game ideas on Pinterest).

[badge style=”3″]6[/badge] Visit one of Macon’s art galleries.

The Museum of Arts and Sciences, the Macon Art Alliance Gallery, Middle Georgia Art Association Gallery, and The 567 Center for Renewal all in Macon have displays this weekend. At The 567, you can even schedule a group art class for 10-20 people. These are a good way to get out, to experience culture and even learn about art and science.

[badge style=”4″]7[/badge] Learn something new.

Cooking, dancing, rock climbing, golf, you name it, there’s probably a class for it where you can learn. So this Valentine’s Day, shake things up and learn how to do you something you didn’t before!

[badge style=”5″]8[/badge] Take a day trip.

Savannah is a mere two, two and a half hour drive from Macon. Atlanta is an hour and half. So just take a day trip! Explore the city (Molly wrote everything you need to know about Savannah) and take your time. Make a day of it.

[badge style=”2″]9[/badge] Go to the movies.

Okay, so you can tell that I kinda like the movies. But going to the movies with your friends or even just by yourself can be great. Right now, Ride Along, The Lone Survivor, and The Monuments Men are out and Endless Love releases that day. (Plus, movie theater popcorn, yum!)

[badge style=”3″]10[/badge]Go shopping.
Buy yourself something! You could go to Riverside, the Macon Mall, or even try out thrifting (I’m the Thrifty Thursday girl so you can check out all of the tips).

The overall point of this is to create some fun! Don’t be wishing you had something to do, just find creative ways to have fun. I hope this give y’all some ideas on how to spend your Valentine’s Day this year!
