So in honor of the “Snowpocalypse of 2014,” I’ve decided to feature some warm items that I’ve thrifted!

This red flannel shirt is perfect for the “Flannel Fridays” that sometimes pop up on Mercer campus. It is super comfy and perfect for cold weather. I thrifted it at $3.99 and have most definitely gotten my money’s worth.

This is not a popular brand name and barely exists on the internet. So I’ve found one that was similar and also off-brand for $11.99.

These leg warmers came from a thrift shop in Madeira Beach on a Fall Break trip. I got them for $3.00. I get the most compliments and questions about these than all of my other clothes. Leg warmers have recently come back into style as boot socks and these fit the bill. One of my proudest thrifting moments.

I have found a couple of similar ones online. The problem is, they all range from $11 to $35 depending on where they are bought. Since I don’t know the original brand, I just found these Wal-Mart ones for $24.04 (since that’s sorta in the middle).

While thrifty treasures are always waiting no matter what time of year, there are some better seasons when you can usually find more. In my experience, I have found that the times after summer (right before school starts), around Fall Break (mid-September), and after Spring cleaning (March) are the times when people are giving things away that they either have no room for or do not want. Depending on the thrift store, it may take a couple of days/weeks to get all of these items sorted and into the customer shopping area. So don’t give up! Keep checking your local thrift store around these times. But also remember that people decide to give things away anytime of the year, so keep an eye out year-round!
Thrifting is treasure hunting. So from one treasure hunter to another, keep on thrifting!
I definitely am in the mood to find my treasure!!! Got to try this.
