Skin Care You Might Drive To Atlanta For (But Don’t Have To)

These days there are so many innovations when it comes to skin care. It’s difficult for even me to keep up with! I’m a big believer in trying many different products and techniques when it comes to skin care. One procedure I have had the chance to try here lately is called the Dermapen.

Gail Slater of Aesthetic Body Sculpture Clinic in Warner Robins has been a contact of mine since my days with DealChicken and she reached out to me to see if I might want to try the Dermapen treatment.

To have the Dermapen experience I came to Aesthetic Body Sculpture and of course was greeting by my friend Gail- who would introduce me to their Registered Nurse, Whitney. (By the way Whitney is an absolute doll and a pageant queen who has been all over the world representing Georgia!) Whitney would cleanse my face with rubbing alcohol and then place a numbing agent on my face. (I thought about maybe not using the numbing agent but I mean really why do that to myself?) Next the Dermapen was applied towards me and I was really honestly a little nervous BUT it didn’t bother me at all. These little itsy bits needles just felt like they were giving me a teentsy massage, which maybe stung just a lil bit, all over my face.

What the Dermapen actually does, according to their website is to provide ” unparalleled via fractional delivery of needles micro injuries into the epidermis and dermis. These micro injuries to the skin encourage and harness the power of the body’s innate ability to re-grow and repair the skin through the normal physiology of skin. The first phase begins with the release of the bodies growth factors and the further cascade of new epidermal growth, fibroblast chemo-taxis, fibroblast proliferation and matrix production. This proliferation of the body’s tissue continues to release growth factors from fibroblasts, keratinocytes and monocytes. The second phase of wound healing invloves deposition of collagen III, IV and I, elastin, proteoglycans, and GAG’s. The last phase results in tissue remodeling where the skins vascular matrix matures and skin tightening as well as new collagen can be seen. The body’s ability to remodel and heal itself is at the heart of this amazing process.”

Whoa. That sounds really kind of painful and actually is a little bit hard for me to comprehend. Basically it provides a quick process for the skin to regenerate itself. Another comparison I have heard is it’s much like a laser peel- but with a hell of a lot less downtime. Remember Samantha from Sex and the City when she got a laser peel?

Yikes!! Well, this is NOT what happened to me. Now granted I have darker skin so I naturally don’t have as much of an issue with something like this, is what Gail told me, but I even went on a date after my first treatment. (*Note: you can’t wear makeup afterwards, and yes I went on a date with no makeup.)

I’m going to be honest I had my doubts but after two treatments I can already see a difference- hell I saw it even after one.

You can even have the Vampire Facial combined with the Dermapen treatment. This is the new hot treatment that Kim Kardashian is having done- now say what you will about the Kardashians but you have to admit they look damn good. Anyways…. THAT will be a later post to talk all about the Vampire Facial because it really deserves it own post.

I even have a video that we shot of the Dermapen treatment which I will also post in a separate post (once Danny Davis gets it to me- did y’all know he could shoot video along with singing?). Suffice it to say- the Dermapen is for sure going to be one of the weapons in my arsenal of keeping my skin looking young.

Love to all y’all,

Molly
