It’s National Grilled Cheese Day!!!!
IT’S NATIONAL GRILLED CHEESE DAY Y’AAAALLLLLLLLL
There’s not a whole lot better than grilled cheese. Really. Cheesy, warm, melty goodness in between two pieces of bread. It’s a simple pleasure, one that I simply adore if I must be honest.
I had the good fortune to have one of the most decadent grilled cheese sandwiches of my life this past Friday, courtesy of Kudzu Seafood in Macon.
Yes I said Kudzu Seafood. If they have this as a special today THEN GET IT.
It’s their Lobster Grilled Cheese Sandwich. And it’s as glorious as it sounds.
I couldn’t help but to go ahead and grab a piece of it at the picnic table as I left and walked on back to work. So much so that appearently their owner watched me walk with it, munching, on down the road. I imagine The Wiz song “Ease on Down The Road” playing as I did so.
It was also really good the next day, yes by some miracle of God there were leftovers- actually it wasn’t a miracle from God it was just my habit of overordering …. because I had also order jambalaya that day. Whoops.
Anyways. It’s amazing and lovely. You should call them today.
If that doesn’t strike your fancy, or you live elsewhere, check out our fellow SBV writer Dylan’s post for Visit Athens, Georgia about “10 Best Grilled Cheeses in Athens“. One of the ones she names is the The Hermit Crab from Seabear, which I’ve had, actually! Thank you Jen for letting me know about that amazing gem. It’s yet another mix of seafood and cheese. Not an obvious pairing, but one that works well.
Another idea is to do a grilled pimento cheese- Harpin’s in Macon has a lovely pimento cheese and maybe if you ask nicely Paul will grill it for you? I’m not sure so don’t hold me to it. My suggestion would be to buy the pimento cheese from him in a quart and take it home to make several sandwiches.
Anyways, there’s some ideas! Happy National Grilled Cheese Day, y’all!
Love to all y’all,
Molly
