The Many Stages of Unpacking
Tomorrow will be two weeks since my crew and I got back from Birmingham and our Girl Meets Birmingham trip.
I’m realizing now, as I do more of these, that there are several stages to my unpacking.
1- Dump It All In The Living Room and Leave It
This lasts at least a week, or less if people are coming to my house anytime soon. Depending on how well I know them, of course.
2- Things That Can Get Wrinkled Are Removed and Laid Out Carefully
Go ahead and lay these out so I don’t have to put them in the dryer again to get the wrinkles out… cause I haven’t touched an iron in appoximately 389.54369y73 days.
3- Remove the Things One By One According to Immediate Need
Those shoes I needed? Oh yeah! I took them out of town. Let me put them on now. Hairdryer? Let’s take it out now as well.
4- Put Up Small Items That Require The Least Amount of Work
Shoes. They all go in one place. Aside: kick myself for not taking out the cute shoes with the cut outs that are now flattened sooner.
5- Take Everything Out and Lay It Out In Sight So I Am Reminded How Much I Have Left To Do
*sigh*
6- Put Things Up One By One In Most Painful Fashion Ever
During lunch breaks. In the five minute free space I have before taking kids to school in the mornings. In the 15 minute space I have before crashing into bed. While on the phone with friends.
7- Hang The Things Laid Out Last Week
Whoops.
8- DONE! Sort of ….
Well, at least I moved the bags into the other room… and they’re empty….
Love to all y’all,
Molly
