Make Your Kids Happy This Weekend With This Event (And The Proceeds Go To Charity, Too!)

Whew! That’s a long title, isn’t it? But I bet I got your attention.

The Junior League of Macon, Inc., will host its annual Character Breakfast on Saturday, December 5, at Anderson Conference Center in Macon, Ga. ” The family-friendly holiday event begins with a breakfast buffet at 9 a.m. and will feature classic story time characters like Cat in the Hat and Winnie the Pooh; superheroes like Captain America, Batman and Superman; and fairytale princesses, courtesy of Princesses with a Purpose, such as Rapunzel, Tiana, Merida, and Frozen’s Elsa and Anna. Santa Claus will also make a special appearance from the North Pole,” from their press release.

” In addition to meeting their favorite storybook characters during breakfast, children of all ages and their families will enjoy an ornament-decorating station, tattoos and face painting, toolkit construction, letters to Santa, keepsake photos with Santa and story time with Santa and Friends.”

This event has quickly become a tradition in Middle Georgia, ” and all proceeds benefit the Junior League of Macon’s local community projects in support of childhood literacy and school readiness”.

“Character Breakfast is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the holiday season with the whole family while giving back to the community,” said Deanna Ricketson, event chair for the Junior League. “Ticket sales help fund the Junior League’s ongoing efforts to improve childhood literacy in Macon. We appreciate the community’s dedicated support of this event.”

Tickets are available for $25 each and can be purchased online at www.jlmacon.org. Reservations are requested by Thursday, December 3.

Don’t know a lot about the Junior League? As former president Mary-Bennett would say during my first year- ” this isn’t your mama’s Junior League”! I’m a proud sustaining member of this organization of women which is committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. The Junior League of Macon, Inc. is working to be a significant force in improving literacy and school readiness in the Middle Georgia community. They do this through school partnerships, education, fundraising, advocacy and hands-on projects. For more information, visit www.jlmacon.org.
