In Awe of My Daughter
There are times when my little girl strikes me- as beautiful, yes, but she’s also so so smart. She’s smart and witty and even at, as of today, six years old she can even intimidate me sometimes. I’m both excited and scared for what our future holds.
She’s an interesting mix of emotions. Complicated. LK can go from being a happy, bubbly girl so feeling an intense set of emotions.
She loves to play with her dolls and to make jewelry. She insists on wearing these play high heels everywhere. LK loves to dress like Mommy, too!
But she’s also got the mind of an engineer. She loves to build with Legos and I love it. She can follow the directions without even having to read them. And everytime she gets stubborn about not being good at math I insist she can be good at math- we have to work at it.
She loves to sing in the car. One of her favorites is The Avett Brothers “Live and Die”. She will also make up her own song lyrics to familiar music.
She loves telling people she was in two movies this year- the first one will be shown soon!
Baby girl loves to dance. And she loves to snuggle. She loves to snuggle so much that when she wakes up in the middle of the night she still crawls in the bed with me. I still let her mainly because a- I sleep so hard I don’t know she crawls in and b- I want to hang on to these times as long as I can.
Her favorite restaurant is Dovetail. Her second favorite is “the place under Dovetail”, as she calls it. You may know it as The Rookery.
She loves her big brother B- but if he’s mean to her or makes her cry she gives it back to him tenfold by either throwing him under the bus or making him feel bad by putting on some extra sass.
She is my sweet girl, who overwhelms me sometimes with her intellect, her wit, and her beauty. And I can only hope to live up to everything she thinks I am.
I love you sweet girl,
Mommy
