I Found Some Cool New Jeans! Standards and Practices
I found Standards and Practices jeans via Facebook, and fell in love. Jeans are such a hard thing to shop for, it’s such a personal decision. They can go anywhere from comfy casual to super sexy to dressy cocktail appropriate.
I was in shock when their publicist got back to me so quickly with answers for all of my interview questions- answered by Marcus Lansden, VP of Design & Merchandising.
1. Who are your owners?
A mid-size vertical manufacturer who has been in the industry for over 25 years. They are dedicated to design and quality at an affordable price.
2. Where did the name “Standards and Practices” come from?
In the United States, Standards and Practices is the name traditionally given to the department at a television network which is responsible for the moral, ethical, and legal implications of the program that network airs. Standards and Practices also ensures fairness on television game shows, in which they are the adjunct to the judges at the production company level. The name is a play on the original organization. We wanted to develop a line of clothing that was produced responsibly and offered fantastic up-to-date fashion at reasonable prices, with a level of taste, sophistication and style inherent in the brand. By creating such product, we essentially are ensuring that girls everywhere donning our jeans meet a basics criteria of sartorial standards. We are acting as “the fashion police”.
3. We see that your concept is high quality jeans for those on a budget, what price do your jeans run?
We strive to be the under $100 clothing company offering clothing that you would usually find at considerably higher prices. We do have the occasional item at over $100, but you can always bet that it is a fantastic value for whatever it is.
4. What is your favorite style right now?
My favorite style is the SLITHER Skinny. I love the neutral color and the hit of shine, it is eye-catching yet tasteful.
5. What would you say to someone having a hard time finding the right fit jean?
How could they aid themselves in their search? I always tell people to try on a million pair of jeans, there is a fit for everyone and don’t be afraid to size up or down. Also price is not always the indicator of a great fitting jean, one can find great fits at all price levels. The internet has provided us with a great source for finding “hard to find items” where you can type in search words about your fit, and discover websites that cater to your needs, or stores in your area where you can try before you buy .
Well, there you have it folks. Not just a new kind of jeans to buy, but also some advice on how to shop for jeans too. And what I love about this line is they are so affordable and yet have some of THE trendiest designs for jeans that I have seen. This is so cutting-LA-NYC-edge and yet I know us Southern ladies could easily tailor them to our style. I could so see wearing those gold Slither jeans with some cowboy boots, a white blouse, fur vest and pearls- couldn’t you?
Ok- time to do some shopping!!! Love to you all-
