The Happiest Time of the Year: College Football Season, Part 1

Y’ALL!!!!

As of the time that I write this it’s 18 days til College Football Season.

I’ve started watching highlight reels from past seasons, I’m daring to hope that Georgia can pull it off this year with Kirby Smart, and I’m constantly checking my mail for my Mercer Football Season tickets.

I’m also issuing a reminder to all of the men that I know to not commit these blunders, especially if you hope to ever date me:

Along with these tips, I want to talk about some of my very favorite football moments.

#1- Georgia vs. Auburn 2002

I remember this day vividly. THIS was the day my parents foolishly picked to move to their new home and I told them in no uncertain terms that I would not be helping. Also, my non-football-watching brother packed the tv first and I had a heart attack and demanded it be removed so I could sit and watch the game.

The neighbors were likely happy we were moving as I spent the entire game screaming at the tv, all of it culminating in one of my favorite plays ever.

#2- Greg Blue everything

Greg Blue was my favorite defensive player at Georgia- yes, even more so than David Pollock. That guy would hit people HARD- I mean like, just jumping at them and all. I’d love to have a whole team of guys like him.

Seriously, can we make this happen?

#3- Mercer University Inaugural Runout Video

Thanks to this video, we are reminded that on January 30th, 1892, that first football game in the Deep South was between Mercer and Georgia?

This video also reminds me of when I first saw it: at Mercer’s first football game since World War II. I was there with my friends and Mercer won at the very last second. It was awesome.

Well this is all I’ve got time for at the moment, but be sure to catch more of the favorites of the SBV team coming up soon!

Love to all y’all,
