Dear Macon: Y’all Exhaust Me

Dear Macon,

Y’all are killing me.

Seriously. This weekend?! It didn’t even really start this weekend, it started out by having lunch with a new friend at Roasted. About every other person that walked by seemed to be someone I knew in some kind of way. From all different walks of life. Our commonality being Macon.

And that was Thursday, so that same night I literally ran from my downtown office to the 11th Hour Awards, navigated seeing everyone, was there to see many friends win many awards and presented many friends with many awards, left and ran back to my downtown office (literally ran I’m sure I looked like a first class fool).

Friday… what even happened on Friday?! A friend had a cheese party, there was lots happening downtown, I had to work- oh yes I also went to Kudzu and got way too much for dinner: a grilled cheese & lobster sandwich. And jambalaya.

Saturday. Saturday I wanted to go and walk to the Yoga in the Park but my son had a soccer game so that was out. But I had about 3 hours of sleep because I got the first edit of our Girl Meets Birmingham video and I was excited. So after soccer on Saturday I ran, ran in my car, over to the Magnolia Street Soapbox Derby. Saw all the people. Saw all my people.

Ran around, got pictures, had a ton of fun but knew I still had more to do. Ran home. Opened a bottle of champagne. Went to Bearstock- was able to WALK over there which is super awesome- with my champagne (maybe I wasn’t supposed to take it- whoops). Caught a great band, had fun with my kids.

Went home. Rested, showered, got ready for The Cannonball House’s Beards, Bourbon & Bacon event since I’m on the board. Geared myself up to talk to a whole whole whole bunch of people. HAD SO MUCH FUN! Check out my Facebook live video:

Then still went out downtown, caught The Pollies at The Hummingbird and they were amazing. All of it was amazing.

AND SUNDAY!

Sunday started with sleeping in, brunch at Francar’s, and porch time at Robert and Mariana’s. Or, as I like to call it, the most exclusive club in Macon. (But seriously, y’all, who cut their rosemary?!)

Sunday we got the Bragg Jam line up, or part of it at least. And great music. And fun.

But I’m mad at you, Macon, how dare y’all schedule everything on the same night?! I mean, look at any other city… Atlanta, oh wait… Savannah, oh wait…. Columbus, oh….. hmm……

I guess every growing city with any kind of scene has that problem.

Ok, Macon, I’m not mad at you. I guess I’m going to have to get used to dividing up my nights and realizing that maybe I can’t do it all. And maybe it’s not about me, maybe it’s about all of us… and how much our city is growing. I guess I’m even a little, no, a LOT proud.

Love to all y’all,

Molly
