Dark and Dreary Days Call For…. Soup!

Ohhhhh lovely weather outside! What’s a person to do when the weather sprang up frightful overnight and without enough warning to pack a lunch for work? Venture out (safely) in to the weather for an amazing, hot, brimming bowl of soup.

Soup is one of my very favorite food items. It’s something some deceptively simple and yet complex when called for. I’ll eat it in heat or snow, even with nowhere to go! But it is best when the weather has just started to chill, and even more so when the rain begins to fall.

Luckily, for those of you in Macon, I’m already on top of where to go for some of the best soup in town.

Harpin’s has always been a go-to for me when I want a quiet lunch, but I make sure to go either at 11 or after 12:30- otherwise I’ll see everyone! Their crab and corn soup, potato soup, and lobster bisque are all old favorites of mine.

I’m not really a tomato soup person, but every now and then I’ll give it a try.

Omg.

They’ve got this tomato and asiago cheese soup which is freaking killer. And pair it with these gouda cheese puffs? Done. And a cheese sandwich? (Sidebar: They’ve also got this really cool “dry soda”, I recommend the Ginger Ale kind.) But really when I got this is it was amazing and even sold out!

Formerly “Good To Go”, Grow serves up everything locally sourced. On this visit, just one of many, I got their special Louisiana-styled chicken gumbo soup. It was hot and spicy: a truly lovely combo during this yucky weather. And it was made even better with the boiled peanuts and cornbread.

You should get out and try each of these places! I guarantee you won’t regret it, there’s something for everyone at all of them. And be careful out there in the weather! Safety above even great food 😉

Love to all y’all,

Molly
