Breaking News: New Management of Downtown Macon Business

I’ve heard it from two, actually three, very reliable sources that The Moonhanger Group will be taking over the management of the Cox Capitol Theater. The Moonhanger Group is the parent company of The Rookery, Dovetail, The Armory Ballroom and Moonhanger Catering.

As a result of this, they will be assisting with booking quality, fun and exciting concerts. From one of my sources, their goal is to book regional and nationally recognized shows. The Capitol would still be available for private events such as weddings and corporate events.

The Capitol will also become the home base for Moonhanger Catering as well as… get this… their food truck. ” The Moonhanger Grill food truck will be parked outside the Capitol Theatre on the weekends and serving after the Rookery and Dovetail kitchens close,” as quoted from one of my sources.

Of course this is terribly exciting news, and my mind instantly went to the fact that The Hummingbird must be also moving on to other projects. To confirm, I contacted Kristen Thompson O’Neal of The Hummingbird.

She confirmed the rumors I have heard, saying ” yes, we have two really big projects on top of running two bars and working on opening up the Stephens building in 2014. The theatre needs a full time staff and additional revenue to secure it’s place in the future of downtown and we are excited that Moonhanger is that group.”

Stay turned for further news y’all!

Love to all yall- and Happy Labor Day!
