A Whiskey Lemonade and More
As y’all may remember, I am on occasion asked to do posts for the Diageo liquor brands. This time it was for their line, George Dickel whisky. Generally, I’m not very adventurous with my whiskey, but it was tasked upon me to try. (Note: “whiskey” can be spelled either with or without the “e”, this particular brand spells it without the “e”.) The particular item I was given is their George Dickel #12 Tennessee Sour Mash Whisky.
As brown liquor isn’t always, ahem, my friend (i.e.: it makes me very happy and then very sleepy very quickly) I thought I would try a couple of light concoctions. The first was to mix 2 ounces of George Dickel #12 Tennessee Sour Mash Whisky to 6 ounces of lemonade. Easy, right? Put a little sugar around the rim first, and then place crushed ice in a tall glass prior to pouring the mixed lemonade and whiskey in to make it a little lighter.
The second was to take a punch glass and muddle a few strawberry slices and blueberries together, then add 4 ounces of hand squeezed orange juice with one ounce of whiskey. Makes for an interesting punch and could be made in a larger batch for parties.
My third item that I made was to actually use the whiskey in a marinade for chicken. I’m afraid I didn’t measure precisely, but I did combine balsamic vinegar with the whiskey along with cilantro and Sriracha. I would say if you try this to measure out according to taste. Mine turned out pretty good!
Love to all y’all,
Molly
