A Few Of My Favorite {Macon} Gifts
Let’s face it, the holidays can be a challenging time for gift giving. However, I delight in nothing more than giving friends and family gifts they will truly love and treasure. So, what’s on my list? Let’s start out with some of my very favorite things in my hometown of Macon, Georgia!
Rumor Boutique
I know, shopping at clothing stores can be intimidating- even if you do know the other person’s size and how an item might fit them. But Rumor has a jewelry line in that I have fallen in love with: E Newton Designs. They’re specifically made to be layered, so this is an item that you can buy one of now, and again and Valentine’s, and any other holiday that calls for jewelry. They’re also based out of Atlanta, so they’re Georgia Made. 🙂
I’m also loving their wall of scarves- I bought a blanket scarf from them for the Ole Miss game and have more it SO many times since! I always get a ton of compliments, and they’re very affordable.
Karats and Keepsakes Boutique
Yes, more jewelry, but I promise you can’t go wrong. And Diana Warner, avaialble from Karats and Keepsakes, is a long time favorite of mine. This Tennessee born designer now calls NYC home. Her items hold up really well, and I should know. Personal favorites are her stud earrings.
There’s a wide assortment of things you can get here, depending on who the recipient is. And everyone here gives great advice about that kind of thing! May I suggest the Hydrafacial? Go ahead and get a few, because this treatment works best with multiple visits.
Got someone in your life who loves to shop local and drink beer? Get them a tasting tour at Macon Beer Company!
It’s no secret that Harpin’s has always been one of my favorites. Some of it is because I love seeing Paul and Hazel and everyone’s smiling faces. Some of it is because I love seeing familiar faces of patrons that I know. But a LOT of it is because of the yummy food. And they sell gift certificates!
Got an organic enthusiast in your life? Perhaps he or she could use some pampering? Grab them a gift certificate from Beesa Skincare Studio, where they use all organic and natural products! Brooke, the owner and esthetician, has also known been known to act as a substitute therapist/best friend for me at times… listening to whatever I may be complaining about.
Maybe you know someone who isn’t all that satisfied with their pearly whites? Advanced Dental Arts has mutiple cosmetic options to get that perfect smile. Plus, they give back to the Macon community each October by making a donation to a charity for each new patient they get.
Wear. Your Dollar Makes Change.
Who knew shopping in a thrift store could not only save your wallet, but also give back to those in need? At Wear, you can do both of those things. Profits benefit Daybreak, a project of Depaul.
Before you buy at a big name bookstore, check out our own independent the Golden Bough. Not only can you find newer books, but those that you can’t find anywhere else. Good example? On Thanksgiving I got two Eugenia Price books I didn’t even know were in existence, as well as a Fleetwood Mac record!
The Macon Arts Alliance is running a special promotion this week for first time shoppers, so be sure to check out their Facebook page for details! I’m a big fan of the hand-blown glass ornaments.
Everyone knows someone who loves to cook, so of course this is their dream come true. All kinds of cookware items, Big Green Egg supplies, just… I mean it makes me want to cook and I never do that enough. Or, know someone who wants to learn to cook? Buy them one of the classes!
You can’t go wrong with a gift card for sandwiches and coffee. Roasted is basically like my Cheers, I can come in here and know everyone- and they know me. I also love that I can pop in with my laptop, sit at the bar, and get work done while also have a bite to eat. (I’m working from here now actually, as I type this.) OR if you have a friend who loves anything healthy, pick up a pack of Hibicus tea. They import their tea from Egypt and it’s got ” plant compounds recognized for their disease prevention, antioxidant and anti-aging properties”, I’m quoting the label from the tea!
Like the idea of LOTS of craft beer options? This is the place for you! They even have oven fired pizzas available and trivia nights. They’re dog and kid friendly as well, so this is a place you can hang out. Or, get the beer to-go with growlers. I’d recommend grabbing a growler and a gift card as a gift.
Got a guy in your life who always likes to be on point? Grab one of these tie & lapel sets from Bowfresh Bowties before they run out!
There aren’t many women who don’t love a good shoe. If you know her size and style- then pick up a pair! Or you can always get a gift card, I promise she won’t mind.
This locally owned business celebrates 2 years of being open this month. If you’ve ever been curious about yoga, or have a friend who is into wellness, this is definitely something to check out. This would make for a great gift for that mom you know who needs relaxation or even get one for yourself AND a friend and go together!
I’m loving my custom ordered bracelet from Macon/Warner Robins-based Living Truth Jewelry. I was able to pick out the bracelet I wanted and ask for a specific Bible verse.
Travis Jean Art Gallery is now Travis Jean Emporium- and they’ve moved next door. They have a wider array of goodies to shop from. My pick for a present? Their wine and cheese totes 😉
Happy shopping!!
Love to all y’all,
Molly
