A Few Of My Favorite {Athens} Things

With the holidays just around the corner, I wanted to highlight some of my favorite local spots for finding gifts and enjoying the holiday season right here in the Classic City.

Ike and Jane

Ike and Jane would be my first stop on a full day of shopping, because let’s be honest–I’m going to need to caffeinate.  After coffee and whatever donut tickles my fancy, I will be fully ready to take on the quest of finding the best gifts.  Seriously though, y’all are gonna flip over these flavors–red velvet, maple sausage, the possibilities are endless.

Agora Vintage

Agora Vintage is a boutique legend of sorts.  Since moving to their newer Broad Street location owner Airee Edwards has one of the best curated collection of vintage goods in town, carrying brands such as Gucci, Chanel, and Louis Vutton.  Airee’s energetic passion for the fashions of yesteryear is absolutely contagious.  Agora Vintage is your one stop shop for everything from trendy earrings and designer handbags to records and antique milk glass.  Word on the street is, they’re currently housing a beautiful red Birkin, perfect for the holiday season!

Avid Bookshop

Nestled on Prince, Avid is as charming as they come.  Their book sellers are ready (and more than willing) to help you pick out the perfect gift for the bookworm in your life.  Hurry in now to pick up the new Athens coloring book and create your own renditions of sites like the Tree that Owns Itself and the 40 Watt.

Condor Chocolates

I can’t even think about Condor with out beginning to crave their decadent treats.  Seriously, you can’t go wrong here.  From truffles to macarons to brownies, Condor has exactly what you’re looking for to satisfy your sweet tooth and spice things up at your holiday party (But really, pick up some Mayan truffles and see just how quickly things literally spice up.)

Frontier

Frontier is a haven of local art and unique gifts.  The walls are filled with works by Heidi Hensley and The Cap Man while on the floor you can find jewelry, beauty products, kitchen gadgets, and more.  One of my favorites are their Honey Pot luminaries, tea light holders made from beeswax and adorned with dried flowers.

Community

If there’s a locally made good your looking for, chances are Community has it.  Pale Blue Dot Soaps? Check.  Double Dutch Press towels? You bet.  Treats from home.made? Of course.  They even carry their own line of up cycled vintage clothes.

Wuxtry/Bizarro Wuxtry

Where do you shop for that one hipster cousin who requested additions to his every growing collections of vinyl, comic books, AND ten year old McDonald’s Happy Meal Toys?  Wuxtry has got you covered.  Downstairs you will find a legendary record store, named one of the best in the U.S. by Rolling Stone.  Venture around the corner and up the stairs to a nerd mecca of comic books and toys.  Check out their local section for favorites from Eleanor Davis, Drew Weing, and Joey Weiser.

Atomic

Walking into Atomic is like falling down the rabbit hole to Wonderland, just this one’s filled with the most finely curated vintage wardrobe and polaroid cameras.  I could get lost in here for hours, flipping through racks of ringer tees and exploring the booths of vintage goods.
